Wines from Baja California, Mexico
Baja California is leading the production of quality wine in Mexico. There are around 3,192 hectares of vineyards. Ensenada is the wine country that holds the largest number of wineries, the climate is similar to the Mediterranean and this one offers the right conditions to produce grapes of excellent quality.
At the end of the 90's and the beginning of the 21st century, Baja California experienced a growth in the wine industry, due mainly to the creation of dozens of small wineries, called "Bodegas Boutique", named for the low production, but making high quality wines, this gave origin to a good number of garage wines and artisanal wines that are hardly found outside the region. One of the biggest impulses of the wine culture in Baja California is the recent interest of people and companies of different branches who are investing to make wines under their own name or brand, whatever the case, they benefit from the advice and the facilities of wineries that have won the prestige of consumers for the quality of their wines.
