Wines of Portugal
For many years, the wines of Portugal were led by the most famous fortified wine in the world: Oporto. Nowadays, Portuguese wine producers want to demonstrate to the wine world that they have the grape varieties, the"terroir" and "know-how" enough to make outstanding wines, whatever the style of wine. That is the reason that Portuguese are proud of the fresh and aromatic wines of DOC Vinho Verde as well as the structured and powerful wines of Alentejo or Douro DOC.
From north to south and including the islands, the wines of Portugal will be characterized by the climatic benefits, their huge diversity of grapevines and their traditional procedures, both viticulture and winemaking that today continue to mark the style of their wines.
